Limited company accounts and Companies House filing

Statutory year-end accounts for owner-managed limited companies across London: prepared from your records, filed on time, and explained in plain English. One fixed fee, agreed before we start.

In short

Every UK limited company must file annual accounts at Companies House within nine months of its year end, or 21 months from incorporation for its first accounts. We prepare them, file them, and sit down with you to explain what they say.

What the service includes

  • Statutory accounts prepared under the micro-entity (FRS 105) or small company (FRS 102 Section 1A) regime, whichever suits the company and is permitted.
  • A review of your bookkeeping: bank reconciliations, sales and purchase ledgers, VAT control account and the director's loan account.
  • Year-end adjustments: accruals, prepayments, depreciation, stock and work in progress.
  • A directors' approval pack, then electronic filing at Companies House once you have signed off.
  • The linked corporation tax computation and CT600 return, prepared from the same figures.
  • A short plain-English summary of the year: profit, cash, what changed, and what we would look at next.

Micro-entity or small company accounts?

Most owner-managed companies qualify for simplified accounts. For financial years beginning on or after 6 April 2025, a company is a micro-entity if it meets two of three limits: turnover up to £1 million, a balance sheet total up to £500,000, and no more than 10 employees. A small company meets two of: turnover up to £15 million, balance sheet total up to £7.5 million, and no more than 50 employees.

Micro-entity accounts disclose the least, but they cannot show certain valuations, such as investment property at fair value. We will tell you which regime fits before we start, not after.

What we need from you

Access to your bookkeeping software, or your bank statements if you do not use any; sales and purchase invoices; details of any loans, hire purchase or leases; fixed assets bought or sold; dividends declared; and anything unusual that happened in the year. We send a checklist a month before the year end so nothing is gathered in a rush.

Who this suits

Owner-managed companies of every kind, from one-person consultancies to businesses with around fifty staff. If your bookkeeping is behind, we can bring it up to date first; see bookkeeping.

Common questions

Questions we are often asked

Nine months after your company's year end, known as the accounting reference date. A company's first accounts are due 21 months after incorporation. Corporation tax is payable nine months and one day after the year end, and the CT600 return is due twelve months after it.

Micro-entity accounts are the simplest form and disclose the least, but they cannot include some valuations such as investment property at fair value. Small company accounts under FRS 102 Section 1A give more detail. Size is tested against turnover, balance sheet total and employee numbers.

Yes. A dormant company still files accounts at Companies House every year, usually simple dormant accounts, and a confirmation statement. HMRC should be told the company is dormant for corporation tax, and if HMRC has issued a notice to deliver a return, a return must still be filed.

Yes. We bring the records up to date first, then prepare the accounts from them. If a deadline is close, we tell you plainly what can be done in time and what it will cost before any work starts.
