Bookkeeping, reviewed or taken off your hands

Monthly bookkeeping in cloud software, kept current enough to run the business from. We either review the records you keep, or keep them for you, whichever suits the business and the budget.

In short

Good bookkeeping means every bank transaction is matched and coded each month, receipts are attached, and the VAT and director's loan accounts reconcile. It is the foundation for accurate VAT returns, Making Tax Digital updates and year-end accounts.

Two ways to work

We review your records. You or your team keep the books; we review them monthly or quarterly, correct coding and reconcile the key accounts. This suits businesses with an in-house administrator.

We keep your records. We match and code every bank transaction, collect receipts through the app, maintain the sales and purchase ledgers, and close each month. This suits owner-managers who would rather spend the time on the business.

What is included

  • Monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Receipt and invoice capture, with documents attached to each transaction.
  • Sales and purchase ledgers, with aged debtor and creditor lists.
  • VAT coding checked each quarter before the VAT return is filed.
  • The director's loan account kept up to date, so an overdrawn balance is spotted early.
  • A month-end close that leads straight into management accounts if you want them.

Software

We work in Xero and FreeAgent, both recognised for Making Tax Digital. We are a Xero bronze partner with Xero L2 certified professional expertise, listed on the Xero advisor directory. The subscription sits in your own name, so the records always belong to you, whoever your accountant is.

Behind with the books?

Catch-up bookkeeping is common and nothing to be embarrassed about. We start with the bank statements, work out which periods and filings are outstanding, and agree a fee and a timetable before starting. Where a deadline has passed, we deal with the filings in order of penalty risk.

Common questions

Questions we are often asked

We work in Xero and FreeAgent. Both link to your bank, capture receipts by app, and are recognised by HMRC for Making Tax Digital. The subscription is held in your name, so the records stay yours.

Yes. We start from bank statements, identify the periods and filings outstanding, and agree the fee and timetable before starting. If a filing deadline has passed, we deal with the highest-penalty items first.

Monthly, as a minimum, for most businesses. VAT-registered businesses and anyone in Making Tax Digital for Income Tax need records kept current for quarterly submissions, and monthly records make cash easier to manage.

Often both roles, but not necessarily two firms. A bookkeeper records transactions. An accountant prepares accounts and tax returns and advises on them. We can do the bookkeeping and the accounts, which avoids the handover gap between them.
