Approach

A year that runs to a rhythm

First meeting

We read your last set of accounts before we meet, then tell you plainly what we would do differently.

Through the year

Payroll, VAT and bookkeeping on a fixed calendar, with a quarterly note on where the business stands.

Before year end

Planning happens while it still counts — reliefs, dividends and timing reviewed with weeks to spare.

Common questions

What owner-managers ask us first

A chartered management accountant is a member of CIMA, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. The training covers financial reporting and tax alongside forecasting, costing and business strategy — which suits owner-managed businesses that want the numbers explained, not just filed.

We quote a fixed annual fee agreed before any work starts, based on turnover, transaction volume and whether payroll and bookkeeping are included. No hourly charges, and no invoices you did not expect.

There is no legal requirement to appoint one. A limited company must still file statutory accounts at Companies House and a corporation tax return with HMRC every year, and most owner-managed companies use an accountant to keep both accurate and on time.

Yes. We write to your existing accountant for professional clearance and handover of records, so you do not need to have the conversation yourself. The switch can happen at any point in the year.

We work with businesses across all of London — Central London and the City, West, North, East and South London — including Westminster, Camden, Islington, Hackney, Canary Wharf, Hammersmith, Kensington, Ealing, Hounslow, Richmond, Wandsworth, Kingston and Croydon, and remotely elsewhere in the UK.

Yes. We file VAT returns through MTD-compatible software and keep digital records in the format HMRC requires, whether we do your bookkeeping or review yours. We also send the quarterly updates now required under Making Tax Digital for Income Tax, which began in April 2026.

Our registered office is at 167–169 Great Portland Street, 5th Floor, London W1W 5PF. We work with owner-managed businesses across every part of London, and remotely across the UK. Email info@clinquant.co.uk to get in touch.

Tell your new accountant you want to move. They write to your current one for professional clearance and your records, so you never have to make the call yourself. It usually takes two to three weeks, and it can happen at any point in the year.

Nine months after your company year end for a private limited company, and 21 months after incorporation for a first set of accounts. Corporation tax is payable nine months and one day after the year end; the corporation tax return itself is due twelve months after it.

31 January for online returns and the balancing payment, covering the tax year that ended the previous 5 April. Paper returns are due by 31 October. We aim to have client returns prepared well before either date.

An initial conversation takes half an hour and costs nothing. If we are not the right practice for you, we will say so.
